When: Monthly on Friday afternoons 14:00-16:00
Third Friday

The Archaeology Group is led by Allan.

Its aim is to provide a forum for members across Scotland to share and gain knowledge about all aspects of Scottish Archeology sites and practices.
The Group will conduct monthly ZOOM meetings from September to June each year. Meetings will take place on the third Friday each month from 2pm to 4pm.
Presentations by recognised experts along with independent research and presentations by group members will be the primary activities of the group.

Modus Operandi:
Presentations by recognized experts and group members would be interspersed with visits to key museums and local sites of archaeological interest, led by relevant experts.
Attendance at relevant conferences and locally organized external lectures would be encouraged with group members requested to bring back knowledge to the larger group through short talks and presentations.
During the summer months, trips (single/multi-day) could be organized to field sites of interest, either for local groups or occasionally as a national group (e.g. to sites in Orkney, Shetland or Kilmartin Glen etc.).

The group Leader has led the Edinburgh u3a Archaeology group since September 2018 (having set up the group in May 2018). He has an interest in the subject and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland which promotes and presents information on Scottish Archaeology. This relationship also provides access to relevant experts who can present topics (or lead trips) of interest to the group.
