In essence, "Qi" is energy and "Gong" means work. So Qigong is exercise/work to promote or increase internal energy. All taiji is qigong, but not all qigong is taiji. Many of the forms can be practiced seated or standing.
We practice the Taijii Shibashi 18, a set of 18 Qigong exercises that focus on health and wellbeing, directing the flow of Qi through the meridians. The set flows well, although each movement can be practiced individually or in any combination. The Shibashi are easy to learn and can be done in a restricted space where practicing the Taijii forms would be impossible.
